Ingrown Hair ProblemFrom: Ginger (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Sep 2003 18:22:34 -0500 (CDT)
I have had an increasing number of ingrown hairs on my chin and inside my nose. This started about 2 years ago with only one or two on my chin. Now there are around ten. I have never shaved my chin, and I do not use any rough exfoliating techniques. I had a darkened area in my nose that produced thee hairs one morning. (So far, that has not returned.) I have resorted to carefully tweezing the chin hairs, because they will become infected until the hair is removed. I am 51, have had a hysterectomy, and am not taking any estrogen replacement. I do not understand why I am producing these hairs and I have no idea how to treat them. I live out in the country and the nearest dermatologist is over 40 miles away. If I understood the process that is occurring better, I would not be as frustrated with it. Thanks.
