Bladder Spasms and UrgencyFrom: Gin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Sep 2003 18:49:36 -0500 (CDT)
I had a total hysterectomy a year 1/2 ago. I have always suffered from the occassional UTI. However about a month ago, I got one (I thought), and my Dr's cannot find any infection in my urine. Have now been to 3 Drs. The last one, my gyno., thinks it may be bladder spasms caused from scarring from the hysterectomy. She gave me some samples of Urimax. It really helped. I've read up on bladder spasms and have read that some anti depressants help with this. It dawned on me today, that I recently (about 2 months ago), stopped taking Lexapro. I had taken it since before the hysterectomy. Now suddenly I am having this problem. Do you think if I started taking the Lexapro again, it might help with the bladder problem? Help! I am desperate. I don't want to have to take Urimax for the rest of my life, but to avoid this pain and urgency, I will. Please advise! Oh, and my Dr. is running a culture on my urine sample. I won't know anything until next week, although I think it will be normal.
