First, ~~~Congratulations!!!~~~

Next, I can't really answer your questions, but I can tell you that I need dental work done, too, including a root canal. But my dentist and the endodontist(???) won't do anything until I am in my second trimester. First thing tomorrow morning the minute that the office opens, CALL THEM and tell them that you are scheduled for a root canal and you just learned that you are pregnant. It doesn't matter what the OB nurse says. Doctors work according to their own comfort level. If the doctor isn't comfortable treating you in the first trimester, s/he will decide and let you know. My dentist chose to wait until the second trimester AND get my OB's approval before I even have the appointment.
